The Mason Valley Beekeepers were created in 2009 and is a Nevada Non-Profit. Members are not only from Mason Valley but also from other northern Nevada communities including Smith Valley, Fernley, Silver Springs, Dayton, Carson City, Gardnerville/Minden, Elko, Washoe Valley and Fallon.
The Mason Valley Beekeepers are hosting their 8th annual beekeepers conference. They are enthusiastic about welcoming new people and new beekeepers. The Nevada State Beekeepers Conference will be held on February 23-25, 2018. We are excited that Randy Oliver and Samuel Ramsey will be among the speakers at this year's conference.
The MVB also will be hosting "A Day with Dr. Larry Connor" on January 15, 2018. Also a Basic Beekeeping 101 workshop on January 20, 2018. Both events will be held at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center, Yerington.
Members meet once a month from March through October. Their meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Lyon County Library, Yerington, Nevada. The members are mostly hobby and sideliner beekeepers. The club welcomes new beekeepers and have a mentoring program to support new beekeepers.
Mason Valley Beekeepers manage bee colonies not only for honey production, but for the benefits it provides their homes and their communities. Mason Valley Beekeepers desire to enhance northern Nevada’s reputation as a ‘Bee-Friendly’ area which encourages the apiculture industry and advocates for increasing numbers of bee colonies in the area not only for economic reasons but for the betterment to our communities.
